Vacation Blog Post: Romeo's Post-Party Jam

Image
At first Romeo feels lost due to being rejected by Rosaline, he thought that she was his true love and tried everything to make her love him back. Nothing works and Romeo turns into a moping mess. So Romeo's cousin(Benvolio) insists on him attending the Capulet's feast to see if he could find other women to gawk at. And it immediately  works because when Romeo first sees Juliet he can't take his eyes off her saying that she's " Beauty too rich for use,"(54)  and it's the same when Juliet first looks at him. In the play they both start playfully flirting with each other saying things like " O then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do."(114). This song represents how Romeo because it symbolizes  what he feels from the beginning of the scene to the end. In the beginning Romeo is still moping about his rejection from Rosaline and about his dream about being killed if he attends the Capulet feast " When tomorrow comes, i 'll be on my own,...

Final Debate Writing

Reading " St.Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolfs" was stressful considering I had to annotate while I was reading and probably didn't catch a few quotes that could have help in the debate to decide who was the best wolf girl. Overall the book was a fun read over the days that we read it. I don't know if anyone else felt sympathy for the girls because they were being release from their home, where everyone liked each other and everyone understood everything, and being taken to a new place where they know nothing and are forced to act human but when they do learn how to become human they all hate each other and when they are released and taken back to the wolf den to say hi to their parents, one of the wolf girls named Claudette lies about feeling at home. In my opinion the girls have been brainwashed into thinking that being human would make them excepted into society. And if one of the girls got punished for something the nuns, who run St.Lucy's, would show ...

Assimilation

Assimilation is changing aspects of your identity to fit in socially. Students assimilate due to pressure from people around them or from themselves. Students change things about themselves(either physically or culturally) to attempt fitting with the crowd. In my life I have tried to fit in with people not by changing myself but my agreeing with opinions that other people, thinking that if I did this I could be seen as relatable  and therefore make friends. The only benefit  of assimilating  I can think of is being able to make friends. When you start school no one really wants to talk to any one because they think they have nothing in common but by assimilating it could be easier to  talk to people. People(teens especially) don't try to combat with  assimilation  we do try to stop it but it will never be  completely gone because of people's insecurities. If students or people in general tried to fight  assimilation I don't think it...

Local Eats

Image
If people ever visit New York for the first time they would be overwhelmed by how much there is to see, do, and eat. The first place I would point them to would be a McDonald's because fast food places are things you see a lot so i would want them to have one of the best fast food places. If they're not interest in burgers, fries, or nuggets I would point them to the many pizza places in the area. No matter where you look i'm  guaranteed  you would find a pizza place somewhere near. In my opinion fast food restaurants are staple of New York and America in general. So much so that when people think of America they immediately  think about the different kinds of food.
