Final Debate Writing
Reading "St.Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolfs" was stressful considering I had to annotate while I was reading and probably didn't catch a few quotes that could have help in the debate to decide who was the best wolf girl. Overall the book was a fun read over the days that we read it. I don't know if anyone else felt sympathy for the girls because they were being release from their home, where everyone liked each other and everyone understood everything, and being taken to a new place where they know nothing and are forced to act human but when they do learn how to become human they all hate each other and when they are released and taken back to the wolf den to say hi to their parents, one of the wolf girls named Claudette lies about feeling at home. In my opinion the girls have been brainwashed into thinking that being human would make them excepted into society. And if one of the girls got punished for something the nuns, who run St.Lucy's, would show them a video showing what happens if a wolf girls doesn't develop. I just find it cruel and sad.
The first day of preparation for the debate went very well with the document being shared and all of us writing down what made our wolf girl, Claudette, the best wolf girl. There was just one little problem our chosen wolf girl was, in my opinion, the hardest one to argue that she was the best. I say that because when Claudette does learn, somewhat, how to be human she become very selfish, rude and uncaring to the other wolf girls, which were her siblings mind you. But she is mainly mean to the youngest sibling,Mirabella, saying that she constantly gets in the way. The second day was the same as the first, all of us sharing the document and writing our argument. It was the day of the debate that we had some struggles, the beginning went well enough with our chosen participants giving the opening statement and the actual arguments, but the the debate was another story. The moment we gave our piece everyone else completely destroyed our arguments. Any quote or moment in the story denied our reasons why Claudette was the best. Overall it's safe to say we didn't win but I enjoyed the debate and the book as a whole.
